His commitment to service lives on in how we steward this land and community.
My Uncle Bill served in the Navy during World War II, and his legacy of courage and quiet leadership has always been part of my life. He showed me, in the simplest and strongest ways, what dedication and service truly look like. When he returned home, he took full advantage of the newly established GI Bill—earning his education and using his VA loan benefit to buy a home. Those benefits didn’t just change his life; they became part of the story that shaped my understanding of what opportunity, service, and homeownership really mean.
And long before Clarkmore Farm ever existed, Uncle Bill owned a farm in Texas back in the 1970s. Looking back now, I can see it so clearly—this life, this land, this work… It’s all in my blood. The farm life, the values of service, the belief that home matters, and the deep appreciation for what a VA loan can provide to a veteran and their family. His influence didn’t just shape my childhood; it continues to shape the farm we love today and the way I serve people in my career. His life is a reminder that service, sacrifice, and the opportunities they unlock can create legacies that live far beyond a single lifetime.
And on the mortgage side, every time I help a veteran use their VA loan benefit, I think of him. His service, his discipline, and the life he built because of the GI Bill and VA loan remind me why this program matters. Guiding a veteran through that process isn’t just a transaction for me — it’s personal. It feels like continuing the legacy he started and paying forward the opportunities he received.
